Host City – Macao: A Place of Difference
Since 20 December 1999, Macao has been a Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China. Before the reunion of China, Macao was a colony of Portugal over the past four hundred and fifty years. This makes Macao a perfect crossroad for the meeting of East and West cultures. The tiny SAR is growing in size, with more buildings on reclaimed land and an increase in the number and diversity of its attractions. On 29 October 2005, Macao was the host city of the 4th East Asian Games and in 2007 the 2nd Asian Indoor Games was also held in Macao.

How to Reach Macao and Transportation
The Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) is a part of China's territory. It is located on the Southeast coast of China to the western bank of the Pearl River Delta. Bordering on Guangdong Province, it is located 60 km from Hong Kong and 145 km from the city of Guangzhou. Visitors have different options to arrive in Macao via air, sea or land.

Air Macau – Air Macau is the official carrier of this international event. Delegates can find connection flights between Macao and many of the major international cities in Asia. Delegates are advised to make use of the international airports in Beijing, Bangkok, Manila, Taipei and Shanghai, etc to connect via Air Macau. (Please visit www.airmacau.com.mo for flight information.) Discount airfare is available for delegates coming from overseas and China. However, this special discount rate is available for delegates who make their registry on or before the Early Bird Application and subject to the availability of the offer. As the offering is for concession tickets, it is non-refundable, non-re-route-able and non-endorse-able. Date changes are permitted at an administration charge for USD$30 PER PERSON PER CHANGE. Delegates will be assigned with a priority number based on your choice and time of registration. Please remember that Air-Macau cannot guarantee a 100% allocation due to the limited number of seats available. E-ticket will be issued upon the completion of your payment. Delegates from China can pay either in Visa or Mastercard or by visiting Air Macau ticket office at different cities in China.

Due to the non-refundable nature, passengers taking concession tickets are advised to buy travel insurance with policy covering cancellation resulting from unexpected events - such as sickness or other emergencies.

Sian Richards introduces this series capturing the sights, sounds and flavours of Asia. Macau offers up an intriguing blend of Portuguese and Chinese cultures and traditions, which is reflected in their cuisine - a curious mixture of Indian, Malay, and African together with the Chinese and Portuguese influences. We dine on a summer delicacy, Pork Minchi, a dish that typifies Macau's multicultural nature. Sian takes in the world-famous dragon boat races, samples Portuguese-Cantonese pastries, and wanders into a traditional Chinese medicine shop - where ancient herbs and powders are mixed to cure all ailments

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNGcuBxaqKA

10 things YOU need to know before you go to Macau. A comprehensive travel guide to bring you up to speed on the Language, Food, Casinos, and more! First, some basic knowledge on Macau: Macau was a Colony of Portugal from 1557-1999, and now it’s a Special Administrative Region of China just like Hong Kong. Macau is small -- 30 sq km, or 11 sq miles. 640,000 people live there. In 2017 Macau had 30 million visitors… lots of people for such a tiny place. 64km (40 miles) west of Hong Kong. A great day trip from Hong Kong, but easily worth 2 nights Macau is best known as a gambling and shopping mecca, but it also has a really neat historic portuguese center Macau is the only place in China where you can gamble legally. It generates more revenue from gambling than anywhere else on the earth including more than about seven times the revenue generated by “The Strip” in La Vegas
