The first annual meeting and president forum of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau University Alliance, jointly initiated by the University of Macau (UM), Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU), and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), was recently held at CUHK’s Shenzhen Research Institute. UM Rector Wei Zhao, SYSU President Luo Jun, and CUHK Vice Chancellor and President Joseph Sung participated in the alliance’s first meeting. They had an in-depth discussion on how to increase collaboration among universities in Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macao, as well as how to promote talent development and regional development. During the meeting, the university leaders and heads of the libraries of the three universities signed an agreement on the establishment of a Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao university library alliance. UM Librarian Paul Poon has been appointed the first president of the alliance.
